Race and the Coronavirus

When the news of the Coronavirus landed on the American shores it first was given little attention. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in January 2020 stated, “the coronavirus is not a major threat.” A few weeks later when the first American died from the virus in the state of Washington; several African American Facebook intellectuals and want-to-be revolutionaries argued that Covid-19 was not a threat to the Black community; rather,“it is a white man’s disease.” Both Fauci and Black Facebook trolls were wrong. That is, the virus is a threat to the American homeland. Dr. Fauci, President Trump, and the Center for Disease Control are telling Americans to brace for the death of 300,000 people within the next two weeks. In reference to African Americans and Latinos the death rate is triple of that of their white counterparts. Let’s look at the numbers.

Black Americans in Michigan represent 14% of the state’s population; but account for 41% of the COVID-19 deaths. In Illinois, another midwestern state, African Americans infection and death by the virus is twice that of their white counterparts. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin 81% of deaths are African Americans. These types of numbers are being duplicated throughout the nation. In New York City, African Americans and Latinos represent 72% of the COVID-19 deaths. As for Louisiana, African Americans represent 70% of the deaths due to the virus. In Los Angeles, most of the ones falling to the disease are Asians, Latinos and African Americans. The question is why? Conspiracy or a Racist Health System?

African Americans overwhelmingly look at conspiracy theories for good cause. We have been victimized by federal agencies in ungodly and inhumane experiments for years. For example, Dr. J. Marion Sims, the father of American Medicine. During Antebellum America experimented with female Black slaves in gynecological procedures. He refused to use anesthesia on the victims; saying: “If operations were not painful enough, I cannot justify them.” Literally, the “Good Doctor” killed hundreds of Black women. In 1932 the Public Health Services of the United States and later, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) carried on the barbaric Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment that lasted until 1972. In a monstrous manner they observed the effects of syphilis on untreated Black men. They promised them treatment for the disease, which they called “Bad Blood;” but, instead watched these poor underclass and voiceless people spread the disease and to die horrible deaths. Note, penicillium had already been created and found useful in eradicating syphilis. Another case—is the experiment of the MMR vaccine on Black children throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The CDC deliberately injected African American children with an experimental vaccine that they knew would increase the likelihood of autism. They manipulated Black women by arguing that if they refused the vaccine, they would lose federal services—i.e., welfare benefits.

Most recently, Dr. Jean Paul Mira and Dr. Camille Locht of France stated, we should use Africans as experimental subjects for a COVID-19 vaccine. The logic was based how they and other western nations used Black prostitutes to test drugs for AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s. Specifically, they added Africans are good subjects. They wear “no masks, have no treatment, and lack intensive care units.” Thus, they are expendable. Note, not one American major medical organization, agency, political leader or physician openly rejected the French for their racist proposal of using Africans as human guinea pigs. Sadly, there are too many examples that showcase how African Americans, Africans, Latin Americans, Native Americans, and other “expendable” people have been used to service the majority and elite of American society through unjust medical experimental procedures.
