You don't have to keep asking men for what is rightfully yours. Instead, ask God for permission to pursue what is rightfully yours. If God gives you the okay, then be determined to secure what you know God has given you the rights to. There are times when God will require you to act courageously in your pursuit. He will be with you but you will still need to actually fight (whatever that act looks like) and follow through with the directions God gives you. God will have given you the victory in advance but the faith part of securing the victory is going into battle knowing that God is with you. That battlefield can be street protests, a courtroom, a prayer closet, wherever God says the field of battle is. God can give you the right to pursue and overtake. When someone steals from you, the property never becomes rightfully owned by the thief.
Joshua 10:19 KJVS And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.
Psalm 18:37 KJVS I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
The above are very strong words. You say but what about the "New Covenant." It says "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44 KJVS)
Yes! We are to love our enemies. We are to love people just as God does. Yet, God is a God of justice. We want justice to be administered properly. We want righteousness to have reign over our lives. God is clearly for justice being properly administered. We are to stand in opposition to evil.
We are first and foremost looking to people who know God to repent for their wrongdoings (as we all must do when we do what is wrong in God's eyes). We are not out to destroy other human beings but we can pursue righteousness and justice with God on our side. We are not to allow evil (that may be attacking us through people) to consume us. We fight our battles with God's guidance, faith and His Word. We act when God tells us to act. We move with the works that God assigns us without pause as Revelation 2 states:
Revelation 2:26 KJVS "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I (Jesus) give power over the nations."
The power of God has its foundation in love and doing what is right. It is not letting the self-destructive behaviors have rule. Those whose purpose is that of the evil to kill, steal and destroy. We strive for both righteousness and peace because it is righteousness that creates the atmosphere for sustained peace to exist. Let peace come to us all by doing right to each other.
